Crosspudlains flocked to a party last night to celebrate the launch of a new local Italian restaurant.
The owners of La Dolce Vita laid on free tasters of pizza, focaccia, bruschetta and a selection of pastries, all washed down with Italian wine.
La Dolce Vita is based in the old A’Villa Caruso unit on Sandygate Road. The restaurant has been completely redecorated with clean white walls and a small drinks bar in the back corner.
It is a family-run affair, with Luciana and Gianpaolo preparing the food and Nirvana managing the restaurant with her husband Matthew.
The pizzeria is now open for bookings on 0114 266 9811.

As well as the ever-popular carvery, Crosspool Tavern is now offering a breakfast deal.

Breakfast is available from 8-11am Monday to Saturday and 9-11am on Sundays.
Richard Smith’s Catch seafood cafe at Crosspool is closing as a separate venture and merging with Artisan downstairs. The same menu will be running on both floors, with fish a specialty.
The Sheffield Telegraph reports that Artisan was turning people away at busy times.
Yesterday it was announced that Artisan restaurant in Crosspool has retained its status as a Bib Gourmand in the latest Michelin Guide.
Restaurants are named Bib Gourmands for offering good food at moderate prices. Eat Sheffield has pointed out that it is now the fifteenth year that Richard Smith’s Crosspool restaurant has been named a Bib Gourmand.
Sheffield chef Richard Smith is taking a trip down memory lane next month with a nostalgic evening to celebrate fifteen years in Crosspool.
Before its current incarnation as Artisan, the Sandygate Road restaurant was previously Thyme and prior to that it originally opened as Smiths of Sheffield – or Smiths as it was known.
Crosspool restaurant Artisan is launching a new Sunday lunch time menu from today.
“We want people to ask for more bread, potatoes, vegetables, yorkies and gravy, just like at home,” says chef patron Richard Smith in this week’s Sheffield Telegraph.
For £22.50 you get three courses plus bread, coffee and chocolates. A la carte is also available.
