Lydgate Green Memorial unveiling ceremony, 2.30pm, Saturday 23rd November
The community of Crosspool is warmly invited to attend the unveiling ceremony of a memorial stone in honour of the late councillor Anne Marie Murphy. Her unwavering dedication and service to the community as both Councillor and Lord Mayor from 2017 to 2018, has left an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of those she served.
This memorial will stand as a testament to a commitment to public service and the positive impact she made on our community.
The ceremony, which will take place in Lydgate Green at 2.30pm on Saturday 23rd November, will be a moment to reflect on her legacy and celebrate the values she championed.
We hope to see many of you there to pay tribute to a remarkable lady who made a difference in Crosspool.

The Mayor’s Free Trees for Communities Scheme is once again taking orders. The scheme gives packs of trees to communities across South Yorkshire to support help us plant more trees, and to make the region cleaner, greener and better off.

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) has initiated a major consultation on the future of bus services in the region.
This 12-week public consultation is a critical opportunity for residents and stakeholders to express their views on the proposed bus franchising scheme, which could see SYMCA taking control of bus operations, including routes, timetables, and fares.
The aim is to improve the reliability and efficiency of the bus network for the public benefit. Everyone is encouraged to participate and contribute to shaping the future of South Yorkshire’s public transport.

The Sportsman Friendship Lunches offer a monthly haven where the elderly, lonely, and socially isolated individuals can gather for a delightful 2-course meal accompanied by live entertainment.
This event is more than just a social gathering; it’s a commitment to inclusivity and support, providing a dementia-friendly atmosphere that ensures all attendees feel comfortable and cared for. It’s essential for those requiring personal assistance to be accompanied by a family member or carer.
These lunches are not just about the food; they’re a wonderful opportunity for the elderly, lonely and/or socially isolated to dine and enjoy a warm and safe environment with old and new friends
Sheffield One World Choir aims for positive social change through the development of a welcoming and vibrant community choir, primarily for asylum seekers and refugees in Sheffield. They meet weekly to rehearse and socialise and perform regularly at community events.
The Choir will be singing in the Worship area at Stephen Hill Church, starting at 7.30pm on Friday 18th October 2024. It will be ticket-less, donations on the night. Half of all money raised goes to the Church charities, and half to support the One World Choir.
