Crosspool Forum’s Open Meeting on Friday 24 April at St Columba’s will start at 7pm.
Guest speaker this time is South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Dr Alan Billings.
Come along and give your concerns on local issues to local councillors, the police and officials.

After the success of their first event a couple of years ago, the 259 Scouts are planning another concert on Saturday 18 April to raise funds for the group and Stephen Hill church.
It will include solo performers and bands featuring members come from the group.
Doors will open at 6.30pm, ready for a 7pm start. The concert will finish around 10pm. Refreshments will be available.
Entry is £3 in advance, £4 on the door. The hall has a limited capacity so it’s recommended (and cheaper) to get your tickets in advance. To buy, contact helensmithsandygate@gmail.com.
On Sunday 26 April Crosspool’s Aligarh Indian restaurant launches its cookery school with a masterclass from chef Jaswant Mehra.
The session includes cookery demonstrations, one-on-one training, recipe cards and buffet.

Crosspool Tavern is closing for refurbishment at 8pm on Sunday 26 April, with the intention of reopening at 5pm on Thursday 30 April.
For the main opening event on Friday 1 May Thursday 30 April, Julia the manager is asking for your help.
Rather than getting a dignitary or celebrity to reopen the pub, Julia would like to find a local hero to do the honours. She explains: “It could be someone old or young who has helped in the community or raise money for charity; someone who has suffered a major illness or personal tragedy; or someone who has given their all for their country.”

Do you want to be part of a new Crosspool-based brass quintet?
Former British Army musician and Nicholas Barrett was part of similar groups during his time in the forces and is looking to set one up in Crosspool.
The Crosspool resident explains: “Inspired by the world-famous Canadian Brass, the group will perform a mix of musical styles. Initially it would be a rehearsal group, but we’d have a view to performing at community, charity and professional events.
“It would be great if we could have more players so we could pull from a pool to perform. There’s no age restriction, we’re just looking for committed players who want to make a good sound. The ideal standard would be grade 5 and above.”

Crosspool Brass is also looking for a local pub function room or community space to allow us a couple of hours a week to rehearse if possible.

Crosspool greengrocer Bamforths will be closed for refurbishment from Wednesday 22 to Wednesday 29 April.
The owners, Michelle and Wayne, have said that they expect the shop to reopen on Thursday 30 April.
The Motor World car parts and accessories retailer has gone into administration, resulting in closure of its Crosspool store.
If a buyer is found for the business some branches of Motor World could reopen, but it is not known if this would include the Crosspool shop.
In 2011, a planning application to convert Motor World into a convenience store was rejected.
Crookes local council ward could be renamed Crookes and Crosspool in time for the 2016 elections.
The recommendation from the the Local Government Boundary Commission for England follows a twelve-week public consultation on draft proposals that draw new boundaries for each council ward across Sheffield.
The proposed new electoral arrangements must now be implemented by parliament, with the hope that the changes will come into force for the council elections next year.
