Temporary Road Changes Petition

Broomhill parking bay closure.

As a result of the temporary closure of the parking bays in the Broomhill shopping precinct and the potential devastating effect the new pedestrian arrangements and loss of short stay parking will have on local trade, Williamson Hardware has posted a petition on change.org requesting that the Sheffield City Council remove these temporary changes as soon as possible.

Broomhill Temporary Road Changes

To give pedestrians more space for social distancing, The Sheffield City Council has temporarily closed the angled parking bays in the Broomhill shopping precinct, on Fulwood Road.

The footways on Glossop Road, between Fulwood Road and Peel Street and between Peel Street and the end of the pavement opposite Westbourne Road, have also been temporarily extended by 1.5metres, to give additional footway space

As these measures are only intended to be a temporary social distancing measure, the Sheffield City Council would welcome your feedback on them.

If they work well, and local businesses and residents are happy with the changes, the council have suggested that they may possibly consider, if they work well for everyone and after a full consultation process with local businesses and residents, look at making these changes permanent.

Flood Risk Surfaces

How are different types of front garden surfaces contributing to a flood risk?

Jessica, a Sheffield Hallam University student, is currently doing research for a postgraduate degree. Her research focuses on the different types of front garden surfaces across Sheffield, and how these may have an impact on flood risk.

To help with her research, Jessica has designed a survey and would like to get as many responses as possible from the residents in the Crosspool area.

The Survey is anonymous and will take a maximum of 5 minutes to complete.

As well as bringing more awareness of the flood risk in Sheffield for local residents, If this research is successful, it may provide a better picture for policy makers and planning authorities.
