This September marks the 20th anniversary of Makenki Karate Club, a thriving martial arts community based at the CDYST, Coldwell Lane, Crosspool.
The club was founded in 2003 by Dave and Jackie Bolsover, a married couple who share a passion for karate. They started teaching at Nether Green School, but soon outgrew the space and moved to the (CDYST), where they have been ever since.
Makenki Karate Club welcomes students of all ages and abilities and offers a friendly and supportive environment to learn and grow.
Dave Bolsover, who is also the chair trustee of CDYST, shares his passion for the clubs he started as a hobby. “It quickly became my full-time profession and I love it. I have had so many wonderful experiences and I’m proud to see how many people have benefited from learning the art. Some of our members have been with us since the beginning and are now instructors themselves”.
Dave and his wife Jackie are excited to be launching a new beginner’s session on Mondays from October 30th at 5pm. It’s open to adults and children from 6 years old
