A reminder to start planning your Scarecrow competition ‘Children’s TV programme’ creation.
The Scarecrow Competition is always a highlight of the Crosspool Summer Festival.
This year’s Competition Theme is: ‘Children’s TV Programmes’. You are welcome to create anything you like based on this theme.
The competition is open to anyone in the Crosspool area.
Pop into the Crosspool Pet Supplies on Sandygate Road to pick up your entry form or download one Here.
The competition entry fee is just £4
Your Scarecrow will be judged whilst on display from 10:00 am Friday 30th June to 6 pm Friday 7th July.
The winners of the three excellent prizes, donated by local businesses, will be announced at the Summer Fayre, Coldwell Lane Park/Sports Hall, on 8th July 2023.
All proceeds will go to Crosspool Festival Charities.

Bereaved Parent Support
Losing a child is very isolating and it makes such a difference to spend time with other parents in a safe supportive environment.
On Saturday 10thJune, to raise awareness for anyone local, the “Care for the Family” national charity is holding a support day at St Marks Church, Grenoside Sheffield S35 8PR for parents who have lost a child of any age or in any circumstance.

HALLAM CHASE, TUESDAY 30th May 2023
Hallam Chase Fell Race is the oldest continuously run Fell Race in the world.
This annually run race over a 3¼ mile-long course with 800 feet of climb, organised by Hallamshire Harriers and hosted by Hallam Cricket Club, takes place this Tuesday, 30th May.
Runners set off from Hallam Football/Cricket Club’s Sandygate ground at 8 pm, go down Coldwell Lane, Den Bank through the Rivelin Valley, and up Tofts Lane to Stannington Church gates, before returning by the same route.
This heritage-related event goes back as far as 1862.
The current record time of 19 minutes 42 seconds was set in 1968 by Trevor Wright.

Broomhill Community Library is holding one of its super (cheap!) book sales at the library 10, Taptonville Road, Sheffield, S10 5BR- starting this Tuesday 30th May and lasting until Saturday.

Snake Pass Closed
The Snake Pass will be closed for 5 days from tomorrow Monday 22nd May.
To allow for extensive urgent repairs and resurfacing works to be carried out on the narrow width of single carriageway at Gillot Hey and the landslip at Wood Cottage, the A57, from the turning for the Upper Derwent Fairholmes visitor centre, to the summit of the Snake Pass, will be closed in both directions to all traffic including pedestrians and cyclists.
