Today, Thursday 11th November at 11 am, a lone trumpeter, playing an emotive solo, joined the Rev. Suzanne Nockels in a service of remembrance around the Crosspool memorial in the Garden at Tapton Hill Congregational Church.
Eighteen people (one gentleman with a chest full of medals), came together in prayer to remember the sacrifice of those around the world whose life has been touched by conflict for democracy and freedom,

Services at St Columba and Stephen Hill Church

St Columba’s Church, 10.30am service, lasting about an hour, is Holy Communion led by Steve Ellis, with Ian Parkinson, Associate Archdeacon, preaching and presiding.
During the service, there will be a minute of silence in memory of Queen Elizabeth II, and the intercessions will include prayers of thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign, of support for the royal family, the nation in mourning, and for our new King Charles III.
Stephen Hill Church 6.00pm, as suggested by the archbishops for the eve of Her Majesty’s funeral, a short service of prayer and reflection lead by Steve Ellis.
Of course, All Are Welcome to either or both services!
THE QUEEN
There will be times to come and pray as well as to sign a book of condolence during this coming week at both St Columba’s Church and Stephen Hill Church on Manchester Road, Crosspool,

On both occasions and others to be confirmed we will have a book of condolence available to be signed
Over 70 wonderful exhibits from very talented Crosspool folk were on display last Thursday at St. Columba Church.
The four judges were impressed with the range and quality of entries. There was also a display by Mavis Roadhouse on using silk, a very complicated and delicate skill.
The winners each received a certificate and a cash prize sponsored by Crosspool Estate Agents, Cocker & Carr.
The winners were:
Craft Sandra Bousted for her hand made journal made from recycled materials.
Art under 16s: an exceptional and brilliant portrait drawing by Neha Chonkar.
Art adults: Rosalie Hoyland ‘smoke scene, sparks and soot’.
Photography under 16s: Kai Haste-Wain’s image of a resting bee.
Photography adults: Louise Cousins for her picture of Hallam FC players celebrating winning the league in the snow!
