The trustees of Crosspool & District Youth Sports Trust (CDYST) on Coldwell Lane are asking for your old inkjet and laserjet printer ink cartridges and mobile phones to help raise money and to be more environmentally friendly.
CDYST is working with partners AquAid, Perfect Printer Cartridges and BCMY recycling on the initiative.
You can help by donating your empty inkjet and laserjet printer cartridges (not toner cartridges) and old mobile phones: drop them off at 5 Dransfield Close. For further information, email g.m.drinkwater@btinternet.com.
You can also arrange for your old printer cartridges to be collected using the zerowasterecycling.co.uk website. If you click through via this website, CDYST will benefit from your contribution.
Last summer we were asked to consider providing a cycle track on the grassed area to the left of the sports hall, when viewed from Coldwell Lane.
We have done some research and have hopefully secured some funding to go ahead with this project, but would welcome your ideas and thoughts before we proceed any further.
We envisage tarmacking a grassed area approximately 16m by 15m where children, and those who lack confidence on a bike, can safety practice their cycling skills on a flat piece of ground, away from the traffic. We could also consider painting on some road markings such as a mini roundabout, a give way sign etc.
In addition, we are considering making a long cycling track, again out of tarmac, which would run from the building, down towards the tennis courts, with a small turning circle at the end. This would not interfere with the football pitch in any way.
Is this something which you feel is a good idea, or would you prefer the land to be left as a grassed area? Any thoughts, ideas and suggestions would be very welcome.
We would appreciate the responses as soon as possible, as there is a time limit for applying for the grant. Unless we can secure this funding, we will be unable to proceed with the project.
The trustees of Crosspool & District Youth Sports Trust are asking people to stop parking in their Coldwell Lane car park unless you are genuinely using the CDYST facilities or already have an arrangement to park there – for example Claremont Hospital.
Some residents have been using the private CDYST car park during road resurfacing works, which has been causing problems for existing users.
The trustees have warned that it is extremely dangerous for the mothers and pre-school children to have to park on a public road to get to the hall.
Crosspool’s big Summer Fayre at CDYST on Coldwell Lane will take place this Saturday.
BBC sports broadcaster and Crosspool resident Damian Johnson will be opening the fayre at 1pm. A range of activities are being planned, including:
Children entertainer Barney Baloney
Well Dressed Ceilidh Band
Irish dancing
Bouncy slide
Bouncy castle
Coconut shy
Lucky dip
Tombola
Wellie wanging
Wet sponge throwing
Refreshments
Craft and cake stalls
Books
Plants
Bric-a-brac
Entrance is 50p on the gate.
RuggerEds will be running introductory sessions at the fayre, where your child can learn from qualified coaches and take part in a mini tag rugby taster and have the opportunity to kick a penalty. On completion of the taster session each child will be presented with a certificate and voucher for a free future session as well as a leaflet giving you more information.
We have had an excellent response to our computer and toner recycling scheme. If you have contacted Gillian and brought them round many thanks. If not please email g.m.drinkwater@btinternet.com for delivery details. We need two more empty toner cartridges before that batch can be sent off – does anyone have one, perhaps at their office?
We also have two unused new black toner cartridges for sale at £20 each. The make is Lyreco (one ref. 4.563.182, compatible with HPLaserjet P 2030 serie, P 2035/-N, P 2050 serie, P 2055/-D,-DN,-X, and one ref 4.071.29 compatible with HP laserJet P 3005, N,D,DN,X, M3027,x,3035,xs mfp Serie.)
Dog walkers have been asked to clear up after their dogs when using the Coldwell Lane CDYST pitch and surrounding ground.
The trustees of Crosspool & District Youth Sports Trust (CDYST) and Crosspool Juniors Football Club report an increase in the amount of dog mess not being collected, bagged and taken home.
Trust secretary Mrs Gillian Drinkwater explained: “This is a serious issue of great concern to everyone in the local community, especially in view of the number of children who use the area. The trustees would like to point out this is private ground and we might have to consider closing the site to dog walkers if the problem continues.”
