Chef Chris Bilsen shows off the new fresh dough pizzas now on offer at the Crosspool Tavern
One of our local pubs has a new look and new menu.
On Friday 8 December, the Crosspool Tavern reopened with an expanded menu, including fresh dough pizzas, burgers, carvery meats and pub classics. Five new jobs have been created.

Speaking about the conversion general manager, Christopher Squire, said: “We’re excited about the new changes and are looking forward to welcoming the people of Sheffield to come and see what Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery is all about.
“We’re a real part of the local community and are looking to support local charities, projects and host a variety of events and activities that everyone can enjoy.”
Adrian Well, the owner of Bamforths greengrocer, sent this message of thanks to local residents: “Many of you know my shop was broken into and burgled last week. Whilst it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience, the kindness and support I received from the whole community was really cheering.
“All of your kind words were really appreciated, offers to help clear up were amazing, bottles of wine (and any other alcoholic gift) are always most welcome!
“Many of you will know that taking on the shop is a big change in my life. The reasons for taking this on are many. The hours and pay are certainly not two of them. But, the support I received has helped me appreciate how much local shops are a bedrock of a community. You’ve made me proud to live and work among you. Thanks again.”
If you see anything suspicious, don’t hesitate to contact the police by ringing 101.
Crosspool Tavern will offer pizza, burgers and more as part of a refurbishment and rebrand.
The pub will reopen on Friday 8 December as a Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery.

We are in our 18th year. We opened the shop in the precinct in May 2000.
What do you like about the Crossppol area?
It feels like a village community and has a really nice little shopping centre. The people are lovely and we have some loyal customers who have been with us since we opened.
What are your top sellers at the moment?
Our top sellers at the moment are beef mince, chicken fillets and our homemade sausages.
What are your plans for the future?
We are a family-run business with several generations involved in the running of it, so eventually I would like to hand over the business to the next generation of the family. We are still keen to support local events such as the festival and summer fayre and we like to get involved in local community fundraising where we can.
What do you think people should buy local?
We think people should buy local as all our meat is sourced locally within 20 miles, for example lamb from Bakewell and pork from near Doncaster. This means we can provide locally-sourced meats which have traceability and customers know they are getting good quality products. We can also give customers advice on the best cuts and cooking of produce and we provide a free delivery service if required.
