Covid-19 Mobile Testing Centre Relocating

The Sheffield Mobile Testing Centre currently based at Olympic Legacy Park is relocating to Milton Street Car Park in Broomhall. The site will be open at its new location from tomorrow, Tuesday 29 September. Access to the centre is both pedestrian and drive-through.

The site operating hours will be 11am-3pm open 7 days a week.  The testing centre is accessible with a pre-booked appointment only. Only arrange a test if you have covid symptoms.

You can arrange for a test by booking via the national portal online nhs.uk/coronavirus or calling 119. Do not attend the site without an appointment; you will be turned away if you do not have a booking.

If you have any of the following symptoms, you need to arrange a free test:

  • A high temperature
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

Testing continues to play a vital part in our fight against the spread of Covid-19 in our city and to help reduce the rate of people contracting the virus, we need your help. If you are showing symptoms, however mild, you need to get tested as soon as you can.

Lydgate Green Clean Up

The weather was warm and sunny for the Lydgate Green clean up morning!

“The Friends of Lydgate Green” would like to send a big thanks of appreciation to the small group of people who turned up last Saturday morning (19th September) to help, for an hour or so, with tiding up the flower beds.

Although having to observe social distancing and as a result work individually with their own fork & spade, all were pleased to have had the opportunity to help keep this valuable facility ship shape for the community to enjoy.

With the onset of autumn the “Friends of Lydgate Green” are hopeful that the weather and the regulations remain favourable for their final tidy up hour, planned for 10am Saturday 24th October.

Temporary Road Changes Petition

Broomhill parking bay closure.

As a result of the temporary closure of the parking bays in the Broomhill shopping precinct and the potential devastating effect the new pedestrian arrangements and loss of short stay parking will have on local trade, Williamson Hardware has posted a petition on change.org requesting that the Sheffield City Council remove these temporary changes as soon as possible.

Broomhill Temporary Road Changes

To give pedestrians more space for social distancing, The Sheffield City Council has temporarily closed the angled parking bays in the Broomhill shopping precinct, on Fulwood Road.

The footways on Glossop Road, between Fulwood Road and Peel Street and between Peel Street and the end of the pavement opposite Westbourne Road, have also been temporarily extended by 1.5metres, to give additional footway space

As these measures are only intended to be a temporary social distancing measure, the Sheffield City Council would welcome your feedback on them.

If they work well, and local businesses and residents are happy with the changes, the council have suggested that they may possibly consider, if they work well for everyone and after a full consultation process with local businesses and residents, look at making these changes permanent.
