Have Your Say on Bus Services

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) has initiated a major consultation on the future of bus services in the region.

This 12-week public consultation is a critical opportunity for residents and stakeholders to express their views on the proposed bus franchising scheme, which could see SYMCA taking control of bus operations, including routes, timetables, and fares.
The aim is to improve the reliability and efficiency of the bus network for the public benefit. Everyone is encouraged to participate and contribute to shaping the future of South Yorkshire’s public transport.

  1. It would be advantage to reinstate the inner and outer circular bus route that connected many parts of the inner city and outer suburbs . It would be such a help to People.

  2. people will use buses more often if they are frequent enough-every 15min or less- so they don’t have to look up the times or wait excessively if a bus is missing. There should never be two buses missing one after the other.

They also need to be frequent up to 11 pm so people can use them to come home from cinema/ theatre trips.

Their needs to be a town shuttle people can get easily to all parts of the city centre.

Prices need to be low to counter the disadvantages of bus travel -the exposure to the elements going to and from the bus stop, and the fact the journey is not door to door. I don’t think it matters how the above is achieved
