A house on Darwin Lane in Crosspool has been nominated for this year’s Sheffield Design Awards.

Ranmoor House is located opposite the King Edward VII Lower School field. It is designed by local architect Coda Studios and includes zinc cladding to reflect the city’s industrial heritage and art deco features.

The Crosspool house is up against other buildings and locations including The Sheffield Tap pub, South Street park, Tudor Square, JG Graves Woodland Discovery Centre in Ecclesall Woods, Park Hill flats and the university’s Arts Tower.

In September last year, the house was featured in BBC TV programme To Build or Not To Build.

  1. Possibly a joke? – Some rounded ’70s-style boxes with a car-park, none of the beauty or style of original Art Deco – the bar for architectural awards is not exactly high..
