Residents’ concerns over street parking on Tapton hill

Sheffield West Delivery Office

Residents living in the vicinity of Tapton Hill Road and Tapton Bank have expressed their concerns about the recent increase in vehicles parking outside their properties, adding further congestion at school times.

Sheffield West Delivery Office has taken delivery of 26 new vehicles which now occupy their onsite car park, meaning the vehicles which previously parked there are now parking in the surrounding streets.

One resident has contacted the site manager to raise her concerns and other residents brought up the matter with local councillors at a recent Crosspool Forum open meeting.

Members of the Forum also met with management at the delivery office on Wednesday 1 May and the Post Office will be carrying out a feasibility study to look at options available to try and improve the onsite parking within the site.

Mobile library service to be cut in Crosspool

Crosspool mobile library: the service is to be cut

In a bid to save £1.4 million from the budget, Sheffield City Council is to drastically cut back its mobile library service.

Currently the mobile library makes weekly visits in Crosspool to Benty Lane and Watt Lane (twice), plus monthly visits to Moorbank Road Flats and Tapton Hill Road.

Under the new proposals, the Crosspool service will be reduced to a single weekly visit to Watt Lane and a monthly visit to Moorbank Road Flats.

You can have your say on the cuts as part of a consultation exercise.

Grass verge protection measures installed in Crosspool

Two sets of wooden bollards have been installed in response to concerns over damage to grass verges by vehicles.

A set of four of the bollards are located on Marsh Lane at its junction with Lydgate Lane, and a further four are adjacent to 42/46 Tapton Hill Road. They are funded by the South West Community Assembly.

The bollards prevent vehicles from mounting the grass verge areas between the pavement and the road. Their arrival follows requests from local residents worried about erosion.
