Crosspool Christmas Trees 2022

Just a few of the many volunteers

Just a few of the guys and gals who turned out to brave a cold and dank Sunday morning to help adorn a festival of 22 Christmas trees with twinkling lights, before putting them up in the Crosspool shopping precinct to celebrate Christmas 22.

Through the hard work of our community volunteers and the generosity of Crosspool businesses, the Crosspool Forum has once again provided (Valley Side Garden Centre) Christmas trees, each decorated by groups of individuals, to bring cheer and joy to shoppers using the precinct.

Steve and Ian would like to thank the volunteers and local businesses, without whose help and support the Crosspool Forum simply couldn’t run this event

A special mention must go to the staff of Hudson’s café, who once again generously donated cups of tea and coffee for all the volunteers, and to Direct Travel for allowing us to use their concourse for preparing the Christmas trees.

Thanks to everyone who brought their Christmas tree for recycling on Sunday.

Over 175 trees were shredded. They’ll be used to create a path on Hagg Copse and for biofuel.

Money raised from your generous contributions will help provide planters for the precinct, trees and go towards paying for a new bench.

On behalf of all who have and will benefit from their kindness, a big big thank you to Andrew (Complete Tree Solutions) and to Paul at (Direct Travel) for the use of the car park. Please reciprocate their kindness by supporting these local services.

Thanks to everyone who brought their tree down for recycling on Sunday and made a small donation.

Shredding and recycling was carried out by our local tree specialist and firewood supplier Andy Fisher of Complete Tree Solutions.

The donated money went towards the recycling of the trees and the purchase of the new LED lights which could be seen on the trees in the precinct over Christmas.

A big thank you goes to all our local businesses for their continued support displaying the Christmas trees each year and also to the team of volunteers who helped put them up and take them down.

Thanks for all your Christmas trees

Andrew Fisher and his crew of volunteers worked tirelessly for an hour and half shredding Christmas trees this afternoon to raise funds for the Crosspool Forum.

Over 120 trees were left by residents outside Direct Travel, with quite a number being over 8ft tall.

Money raised will help provide hanging baskets and floral displays in the Crosspool precinct.

On behalf of all who have and will benefit from their kindness, a big big thank you to Andrew (Complete Tree Solutions) and to Paul at (Direct Travel) for the use of the car park.

Christmas trees are going up in the precinct on Sunday

Three events mark the start of Christmas festivities in Crosspool this weekend.

On Saturday 1 December from 10am-2pm Crosspool WI hosts a Christmas Fayre in Lounge@Crosspool cafe. Pop along for craft stalls, refreshments, homemade cakes and their great Crosspool bake-off!

On Sunday morning the Christmas trees will be going up in the precinct above our local shops. So look out for them when you pass through next week.

And on Sunday afternoon from 1.30-3.30pm there’s a Christmas disco for children between 3-11 years at St Columba’s church hall. Father Christmas will bring a present for every child and refreshments and nibbles will be served.

Help put lights on the precinct Christmas trees on Sunday

This weekend Crosspool Forum will be putting up 20 Christmas trees above shops in the precinct. It will be the seventh year that our local shops have been decorated with them.

The plan is to put them up in the precinct this Sunday, 27 November. If you an hour spare and would like to help with placing the Christmas lights on the trees, pop along to the area outside Direct Travel at 9.30am. We’d love to see you there!

Christmas trees go up in precinct

Earlier on today, volunteers and the Crosspool Forum committee met to put up illuminated Christmas trees above shops in the precinct.

It is the sixth year that Crosspool shops have been decorated with Christmas trees. As the photos below show, thankfully the team was blessed with fine weather compared to last year’s driving sleet!
