Crosspool collision – pedestrian dies in hospital
Today, Friday 31 October, police can confirm that an elderly pedestrian involved in a collision in Sheffield at the weekend has died in hospital.
At around 11am on Saturday 25 October, it is reported that a black Toyota Celica was in collision with a 93-year-old woman, named as Betty Vallance, outside a row of shops in Sandygate Road, Crosspool. The car was reversing when it collided with the woman.
Betty was taken to hospital suffering what were first thought to be minor injuries. However, her condition deteriorated. She passed away yesterday (Thursday 30 October).
It is believed that Betty may have been using a walking stick.
Investigating officers continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision or events leading up to the collision. Call 101 quoting incident number 406 of 25 October 2014.
Re-appeal for witnesses following Crosspool collision
An elderly pedestrian remains in critical condition following a collision in Sheffield at the weekend.
At around 11am on Saturday 25 October, it is reported that a black Toyota Celica was in collision with a 93-year-old woman outside a row of shops in Sandygate Road, Crosspool. The car was reversing when it collided with the woman.
The woman, who has today been named by officers as Betty Vallance from Crosspool, was taken to hospital suffering what were first thought to be minor injuries. However, her condition deteriorated and she remains in a critical condition.
It is believed that Betty may have been using a walking stick.
Investigating officers continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision or events leading up to the collision.

Reverend Frances Eccleston officially made vicar of Crosspool

Last Thursday evening over 80 people attended a special service at St Columba’s Church for the licencing of the priest-in-charge.
This now means that Reverend Frances Eccleston is now officially licenced as vicar of Crosspool.
Bishop of Doncaster Peter Burrows and many other church dignitaries attended the service together with many of the local congregation.
At the same time Frances was licenced to the post of bishop’s adviser in pastoral care and reconciliation, a role which she will carry out alongside her duties in the parish.

Elderly pedestrian injured following collision at Crosspool shops

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision at Crosspool shops.
At around 11am today (Saturday 25 October) a black Toyota Celica was in collision with a 93-year-old woman outside the shops in the precinct on Sandygate Road.
The car was reversing when it collided with the woman.
She was taken to hospital suffering what were first thought to be minor injuries but her condition deteriorated is now described as life threatening.
Officers investigating are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or events leading up the collision.

Crosspool walk launched by Activity Sheffield

Activity Sheffield is launching a weekly walk starting from Crosspool.
From 27 October 2014 to 1 September 2015 a guided Healthy Steps walk will take place on Tuesdays, giving people the opportunity to explore the green space around our community.
The circular free walk takes place 10am-12pm, with walkers meeting at St Columba’s church at 503, Manchester Rd, Crosspool, Sheffield s10 5PL.

Aligarh Indian restaurant opens on Friday

Crosspool’s new Indian restaurant will open on Friday.
The new restaurant, Aligarh, has taken over the old Artisan building on Sandygate Road.
Preview nights have been taking place this week and the owners are now taking bookings for Friday night onwards. You can call 0114 266 6096 to reserve your table.
Their aim is to provide quality food and great service at an affordable price.
