A car fire near the Manchester Road/Fulwood Road junction is causing delays for commuters this morning.
A fire engine and police are in attendance, with the fire put out by 8.15am.

CDYST trustees ask visitors to be vigilant
Trustees at Crosspool & District Youth Sports Trust (CDYST) have noticed that twice in the last month someone has tried to gain access to the mower storage shed around the back by pulling off the door handle and trying to wedge something in to break open the lock.
They’re asking anyone passing to keep an eye on the Coldwell Lane property – especially round the back – and report anything suspicious by calling 101 or contacting the trustees.
Rubbish causes Crosspool armed response call out
An armed response unit was called out to Crosspool and District Youth Sports Trust (CDYST) on Coldwell Lane today.
CDYST trustees explain:
Much to the annoyance of its trustees and most people using the CDYST playing field on Coldwell Lane, the anti-social behaviour of a few has led to it being treated as a rubbish tip.
Car wheels, broken sledges, parts of bikes, dozens of empty bottles & drinks cans, used barbecues and takeaway cartons and, in particular and most disgusting, bagged and unbagged dog waste have all been dumped there recently.
This reached a peak today when the CDYST cleaner found a suspicious item under the bushes by the car park while litter-picking.
Since it appeared to be some sort of grenade with its pin missing, he contacted the police and, sensibly, kept those using the sports hall and local households away from the object and indoors out of any danger.
On arrival the police decided that they needed to call in the local armed response unit. They then inspected the device, decided that it was a spent smoke grenade, and removed it for safe disposal.
The whole incident was highly disruptive, and will be a further drain on our council tax.
The trustees again appeal to everyone using CDYST premises to please take their rubbish home.
Residents urged to be vigilant after reports of Crosspool burglaries
Volunteers from a local neighbourhood watch scheme are warning Crosspool residents to be extra vigilant after a spate of break-ins over the last few days.
There were reports of burglaries on Den Bank Close and others in the Stephen Hill area, all taking place between 1pm and 3pm.
Dransfield Road Neighbourhood Watch is suggesting residents check their homes and vehicles are secure and work with their neighbours to stay safe.
If you see anything suspicious, call 101. If you see a crime taking place, call 999.
Crosspool collision – pedestrian dies in hospital
Today, Friday 31 October, police can confirm that an elderly pedestrian involved in a collision in Sheffield at the weekend has died in hospital.
At around 11am on Saturday 25 October, it is reported that a black Toyota Celica was in collision with a 93-year-old woman, named as Betty Vallance, outside a row of shops in Sandygate Road, Crosspool. The car was reversing when it collided with the woman.
Betty was taken to hospital suffering what were first thought to be minor injuries. However, her condition deteriorated. She passed away yesterday (Thursday 30 October).
It is believed that Betty may have been using a walking stick.
Investigating officers continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision or events leading up to the collision. Call 101 quoting incident number 406 of 25 October 2014.

An elderly pedestrian remains in critical condition following a collision in Sheffield at the weekend.
At around 11am on Saturday 25 October, it is reported that a black Toyota Celica was in collision with a 93-year-old woman outside a row of shops in Sandygate Road, Crosspool. The car was reversing when it collided with the woman.
The woman, who has today been named by officers as Betty Vallance from Crosspool, was taken to hospital suffering what were first thought to be minor injuries. However, her condition deteriorated and she remains in a critical condition.
It is believed that Betty may have been using a walking stick.

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision at Crosspool shops.
At around 11am today (Saturday 25 October) a black Toyota Celica was in collision with a 93-year-old woman outside the shops in the precinct on Sandygate Road.
The car was reversing when it collided with the woman.
She was taken to hospital suffering what were first thought to be minor injuries but her condition deteriorated is now described as life threatening.
Officers investigating are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or events leading up the collision.

Local shops targeted in mobile phone theft
A mobile phone was stolen from Bamforths greengrocer last month as thieves targeted Crosspool shops.
On Thursday 7 August two men were seen acting suspiciously as they visited the precinct shops and distracted owners. An iPhone was stolen from Bamforths.
Police are investigating and want to speak with two men captured on CCTV. Anyone with information should call them by dialling 101.
Marsh Lane allotment-holders seek building materials: special Open Meeting arranged
As allotment holders appeal for spare materials to help them rebuild the Marsh Lane allotments cafe, tool store and site toilet, a special Open Meeting has been arranged to discuss the problem of Crosspool allotment vandalism.
The 25 August fire came just a few days after a blaze at Hagg Lane allotments on 14 August.
The council have supplied a skip to Marsh Lane allotments and a group of gardener volunteers have been working to clear the site.
One plot belonging to allotment holder Jeff Walker was left devastated but thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous benefactor Jeff should be in a position to replace the shed with something more substantial and possibly fire resistant.
Marsh Lane allotment holders are now in desperate need for any timber, glass, concrete, breeze blocks, slabs and other building material to help rebuild their buildings. They’re particularly looking for support from local building yards and glass merchants.

Arson attack and more break-ins on Crosspool allotments
Hagg Lane & District Gardeners’ Allotments Society hut
Volunteers have been left devastated following an arson attack on Hagg Lane allotment hut.
The main building was set alight on Thursday 14 August at around 11pm. The fire brigade was called and the fire put out but not before serious damage had been done to both the building and stock.
In addition there were some more break-ins to individual huts.
Hagg Lane & District Gardeners’ Allotments Society would like to say thank you for the over 50 emails of support since the fire and the help they’ve had clearing up.
