In remembrance of those whom we knew, those whose memory we treasure and for all who lived and died in the service of their country and mankind, the people of Crosspool raised sufficient funds to purchase a Memorial that belongs to all.
This unique memorial, to those whose life was touched by conflict, was recently installed in the grounds of Tapton Congregational Church on Manchester Road.
A short service of dedication, quiet contemplation and reflection, will be held (hopefully outside) at a date to be announced.

At challenging times like this, we see the community spirit of South Yorkshire people demonstrated in many ways. We know that groups are setting up all over the county to offer support to people who are isolating. Whilst in the vast majority of these cases, the individuals will be well intentioned, there may be some who see this as an opportunity for their own criminal gain.
People carrying out shopping on your behalf, will at some point need to be paid. If you give them cash, how do you know they will come back with the goods? If you give them your bank cards, they have access to all of your funds.
Action Fraud and Age UK worked together to create this film on doorstep fraud which we think will help set out our concerns and offers you some helpful steps on ways in which you can protect yourself.
They suggest this easy way of remembering how best to protect yourself and your loved ones if someone comes to your door offering help.
Stop – never do anything you don’t want to or make any decisions on the spot.
Check – Check for ID but remember most of these are community volunteers so wouldn’t necessarily have ID. There is no way of knowing whether they are legitimate.
Ask – Ask someone you trust for a second opinion, or ask them if they can provide the support you need.
Mine – If they ask for your card or your pin, remember this is very personal information that should not be shared.
Share – If you come across a scam, share your experience with others, if possible, to prevent them from being scammed.
Doorstep fraud is a crime. It happens to a wide range of people with all sorts of backgrounds. Please report it if it happens to you.

Here is the Update for Crosspool:
St Columba’s and Crosspool Care are the Voluntary Action Sheffield (VAS) Hub.
St Columba’s contact number is: 0114 267 0006
St Columba’s will be registering people who would like to volunteer or help.
They will be signing people up for various jobs depending on whether they are DBS checked or not, they will then be triaging people to the many, voluntary, faith and community groups in the Crosspool area.
Community Support Staff are only taking Emergency calls on 0114 2057120, for people over 70yrs who need help with Gas, Electric or Food.
Voluntary Action Sheffield is Co-ordinating all the Hubs in Sheffield and providing free DBS checks and training for Volunteers through the local Hubs.
For any medical needs, you should contact 111 or your GP surgery.
There are already scams going around so please go through your local Hub and register to keep you and the people you want to Help Safeguarded.
All waste and recycling services are currently operating as normal.
However, If and when a reduction in the workforce means all waste services cannot be provided, black bin and clinical waste collections will be prioritised.

King Edward VII School will partially close on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 March 2020 because there is insufficient staff on-site to teach students and to keep children and young people safe due to the Coronavirus.
Year 7, Year 11 and Year 13 students must attend school as normal on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 March 2020.
Year 7 students must go to the Upper School site on Glossop Road.
Year 8, Year 9, Year 10 and Year 12 students must stay at home until further notice. Students must continue with their studies and learning while away from School by accessing work via the MLE, Show My Homework and other School online learning platforms.
Coronavirus – Helping the Vulnerable and Self-isolating
Cllr Anne Murphy met with the leaders of the Crosspool Forum and other Crookes and Crosspool groups today.
Adult health and social care workers, housing officers, community wellbeing staff, Crosspool Care and other members of the Voluntary Community Forum sector were present at the meetings
As a result of those meetings a very clear message came out that we want to give to everyone:
This is an update to all those kind people wanting to be Volunteers and give support to local vulnerable and self-isolating people in their local areas and roads.
Please DON’T send letters out to people asking them to respond to you if they need help, you may be putting yourself and others at risk.
Please DON’T do any work with vulnerable people without the knowledge and appropriate protection of the relevant leaders in your area from the above groups who are co-ordinating volunteers and staff for people in your area.
VAS is meeting tomorrow 17th March 2pm at the Town Hall Jill Malcolm is co-ordinating attendants please contact her for any information or if you intend to go to the meeting.
