Dead cat found in Manchester Road garden – can you help find the owner?

A dead cat has been found in a garden on Manchester Road near Den Bank Avenue.

The black and white cat has an orange collar with bell attached. It has black fur on the back and sides plus a white nose, mouth and chin, white paws and white tummy. No obvious address was attached.

There were no visible injuries, but it may have been hit on the main road and run into a garden.

The person who found the cat has asked us to post this in order to alert the owners. If you are worried the cat may be yours then you can see a photo of it here to check.

The council were due to collect the cat today. They will check for any microchip and try to contact the owner.

Tickets on sale for 2014 Crosspool Childrens’ Christmas Disco

Update: sorry, this event has now sold out. Unfortunately we won’t be able to let you in unless you have a ticket.

Crosspool Forum is hosting a Childrens’ Christmas Disco on Sunday 7 December, 2014.

The event for children between 3-11 years will run from 1.30-3.30pm in St Columba’s church hall. Father Christmas will bring a present for every child and complementary refreshments and nibbles will be served for everyone.

Hallam Art Group November 2014 exhibition

The next art exhibition by artists from Hallam Art Group takes place later this month.

From 10am-5pm on Saturday 15 to Sunday 16 November you can view pieces by the group at Hallam Community Hall on Hallam Grange Crescent, S10 4BD.

Two new courses started this week in Crosspool at Benty Lane Scout Hut.

iPads for Beginners/Moving on with iPads started on 3 November and will run Mondays 1-3pm.

Art for Beginners starts on Thursday 6 November and runs 10am-12pm.

Crosspool collision – pedestrian dies in hospital

Today, Friday 31 October, police can confirm that an elderly pedestrian involved in a collision in Sheffield at the weekend has died in hospital.

At around 11am on Saturday 25 October, it is reported that a black Toyota Celica was in collision with a 93-year-old woman, named as Betty Vallance, outside a row of shops in Sandygate Road, Crosspool. The car was reversing when it collided with the woman.

Betty was taken to hospital suffering what were first thought to be minor injuries. However, her condition deteriorated. She passed away yesterday (Thursday 30 October).

It is believed that Betty may have been using a walking stick.

Investigating officers continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision or events leading up to the collision. Call 101 quoting incident number 406 of 25 October 2014.

The woman, who has today been named by officers as Betty Vallance from Crosspool, was taken to hospital suffering what were first thought to be minor injuries. However, her condition deteriorated and she remains in a critical condition.
