Crosspool Christmas

Crosspool Community Christmas

Observing social distancing, the Joy of Christmas came to Crosspool.A Brass Quartet played Christmas carols in the precinct and thanks to the Crosspool; Forum volunteers, the shops are adorned with decorated festive Christmas trees.

Making their way to a nativity doorway, up a footpath lined with over 80 decorated jam jars for the ‘Nights of Light’, visitors to Tapton Hill Church were just blown away with people’s creativity as they passed a wooden thanksgiving tree festooned with homemade decorated baubles and amazed by  the beautifully decorated doors and windows on a small Nativity trail around the Tapton Hill neighbourhood.

If you would like to show your support to our local smaller business community, and haven’t already taken the opportunity to follow the Crosspool Nativity trail around Crosspool shops, you have until the 24th December to take part.

Cancellation Reminder

A Reminder that this evenings Crosspool Forum Open Meeting in St Columba’s Church, is Cancelled.

As we’re sure you’re already aware, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has meant that it’s now, more than ever, vital to limit social contact and avoid gatherings.
For that reason and to help keep everyone safe, the difficult decision was made to cancel this evening’s Open Meeting.
While we know this is disappointing, we hope you can understand our reasoning for making this decision.

If restrictions allow, it’s very much hope that the next Open Meeting will go ahead in St Columba’s Church at 7pm, on Thursday 28th January, 2021.

To find out more about the virus and how you can do your bit, visit the NHS Website.

Food Bank

St Columba’s and Stephen Hill Church have expressed their sincere thanks for the continued generosity and support from the Crosspool community for the Firvale Food bank.

St Columba’s Church Manchester Road

This is a food bank with a difference. It brings together members of the community to interact, share and grow in confidence in a friendly, open and non-judgmental environment. Unlike other food banks who ask for referrals, anyone is welcome. Each week their volunteers cook a meal for everyone to enjoy and whilst they do provide a parcel of food, they like to also focus on the social aspect of the community atmosphere.

As well as the staple basics, products such as loo rolls, cereal, sanitary products, tinned meats, tinned curries, non-perishable foodstuffs and other products etc., are always needed and would be welcomed. (For obvious reasons they cannot take contributions of fresh meat produce).

Food donations can be left in a box outside St Columba’s Church (just below the letter box) by leaving a message on the church answerphone: 0114 2670006, or email: tara.osborne@stcolumbacrosspool.org.uk  Collection can be arranged.

If you would prefer to make a monetary contribution, either by cash or cheque, put it in an envelope and mark it for the attention of Food Bank c/o Tara Osborne and post it through St Columba’s Church letterbox.

Cheques should be made payable to ‘St Cuthbert’s PCC’ and with ‘Foodbank’ written on the back.

Please Keep Giving
