An update from Sheffield City Council:
If your black bin is due for collection on Monday please put it out on Saturday 22 October instead (before 7am).
On Monday there is a one-day strike by some staff at our contractor Veolia Sheffield which means black bins won’t be collected. Please place recycling blue bins / boxes and green bins out as normal, however some may be collected later in the week.
All Household Waste Recycling Centres will remain open and collections should return to normal on Tuesday.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience and will collect a small amount of side waste when we catch up on your black bins on Saturday 22 October.
We will provide service updates on our website at www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield and via Twitter @Recycle4Shef and @SheffCouncil.
For further information please call 0114 273 4567, 8am-6pm Monday to Friday.
Crosspool bakery Roses reopened this morning following its refurbishment.

Have you seen Sox, a distinctive black and white cat with half a tail, missing from the Sandygate area?
If you can help, please contact the owner who says:
He is 9 now, adventurous and a real hunter but still very loving and affectionate. Fights foxes, brings every mammal home that he can catch, some alive, some not. He makes new friends easily and we are hoping that he has moved out in a huff whilst building work is going on.
I have tried all the homes that I know he visits where he is welcome but no one has seen him for over a fortnight now. We fitted a tracker to him last year and discovered his area covers Lodge Moor, Fulwood, Sandygate, Crosspool and down Rivelin.
He went AWOL about a month ago for about 4 days and came back fat which is why we think he has found a new human to fuss him and tell him how wonderful he is! He loves that.
Is he visiting you or do you know who he is visiting? At the moment we just need to know that he is alive and well and that one of his encounters with a fox hasn’t been his last. I can be contacted on 07974 793 954.
The next evening of acoustic pop in one of Crosspool’s most intimate venues will take place on Sunday 30 October.
Come along to Nest cafe on Sandygate Road to hear performers play live and unplugged, including Sheffield indie favourites The Theories, indiepop trio Robberie, who are part-based in Crosspool and singer-songwriter Duncan Parsons.
