Local skier Woodsy does Crosspool proud in Sochi

Crosspool’s James Woods skied through the pain to finish fifth in the men’s ski slopestyle final today at the Winter Olympics.

Woodsy picked up a hip injury in training which prevented him from competing to his full ability. Despite the injury, he scored an impressive 86.60 in his first run.

Local freeskier James Woods will compete in Thursday morning’s Freestyle Skiing Men’s Ski Slopestyle event at the Winter Olympics.

There was concern on Friday after Woodsy picked up a hip injury and missed training earlier this week, but he is expected to take part on Thursday.

Qualification starts at 6:15am, with the final at 9:30am.
