Developer seeks planning permission after the fact

The planning application with reference 24/00772/FUL appears to be a response to concerns raised by neighbours regarding the unauthorised replacement of traditional bay windows with the installation of flat windows and French doors to a property on Manchester Road in Crosspool. This application was officially received and validated on the 12th of March, 2024. Those interested or affected by this application can submit their comments to the local planning authority for consideration

Altering windows and doors can significantly change the appearance and character of a property and in many cases, the insertion of new windows and doors, that are of a similar appearance to those used in the original construction of the house, generally don’t require planning permission. However, if the changes are made without the necessary permissions, the local planning authority may take legally binding enforcement action for the reversal of the changes.

A planning application has been submitted for a new detached house with a basement garage and the provision of a public footpath to an adjacent site.

The proposed development on Land at the corner of Moorbank Drive & Coldwell Lane Crosspool, Sheffield S10 5TH, involves the removal of three mature trees that are currently under a Tree Preservation Order. (Tree Preservation Order No. 808/296)
The trees are of high amenity value and contribute to the character and appearance of the area. Felling the trees would result in a significant loss of biodiversity and green infrastructure, and would be contrary to the local and national planning policies that seek to protect and enhance the natural environment.

The deadline for public comments is 8th November 2023.

Proposed Development of Former Shop Site

A new planning application has been submitted for the development of the site that was for many years Motor World, 340 Lydgate Lane, Sheffield, S10 5FU

The proposed development consists of a three/four-storey building that will accommodate seven residential units of different sizes and layouts.

Residents living near the former petrol station on Manchester Road have received a letter sent on behalf of Tesco Express confirming that work on the convenience store is underway and will continue until June.

The letter states that planned work includes the decommissioning of the fuel storage tanks, demolition of the kiosk, the building of new foundations and a two-storey building, alterations to the footpath and access point to the shop and a new car park.

Working hours during construction will be 8am-6pm weekdays and 8am-1pm Saturdays.

The planning application to demolish the petrol station and build a convenience store was approved last March.

The planning application to extend the former coffee shop house located between Manchester Road and Lydgate Lane has been withdrawn.

Previously a public toilet, the building closed as a coffee shop in January 2011 and is currently a two-bedroom residential house. In April, plans were submitted to extend the house but it appears that these have now been withdrawn.

Regarding the Moor View Farm planning application, Councillor Geoff Smith has raised some concerns with the planning department about the drives to the intended houses at the back, the underground springs and coal workings.

The owners of the Jet petrol station and Mace store are keen to sell and have had several enquiries about the site. We’re not expecting to get news on the convenience store planning application until September.

Permission sought to extend former coffee shop house

Plans have been submitted for an extension to the former Crosspool Coffee Shop house located between Manchester Road and Lydgate Lane.

Previously a public toilet, the building closed as a coffee shop in January 2011 and is currently a two-bedroom residential house.

The new plans involve extending the house to to the kerb edge next to the phone box in order to accommodate additional reception rooms and bedrooms. A driveway entrance would be located on the Manchester Road side and the site plan indicates that trees would need to be removed to make room for the larger building.

You can comment on the application on the Sheffield City Council website. The standard consultation is due to end on Tuesday 20 May 2014, with a decision potentially being made on Tuesday 3 June 2014.

Proposed convenience store for Crosspool‏

A planning application has been submitted for the retail premises on Lydgate Lane, presently occupied by Motor World, to extend the building to three times its present size.

Planning application 10/02657/FUL indicates permission is being sought to change its use to a convenience store/market, possibly by one of the big supermarket chains. Work has already begun, with the removal of a number of trees from the site.

The application raises many questions, including how this might affect the viability of the present shops in the precinct, and crucially, what added pressure will this impact on road safety, at what is an already very busy Y-junction with Manchester Road.

Residents are being invited to comment on the application before 17 September 2010 on the Sheffield City Council Planning Applications website.
