‘A Year in Crosspool’..

The judges have now shortlisted the photos from all categories to just three, and would like you to choose the one that you consider most captures the theme.

2018 Crosspool Festival photography competition winners

The results of our annual festival photography competition have been announced!

People were invited to submit a photo on the theme contribution of women in the world.

The polls received nearly 600 votes. The results are below. The prizes will be awarded at the Summer Fayre on Saturday 7 July.

Crosspool – as you’ve never seen it before

An exiled former resident has posted some remarkable pictures of Crosspool online.

In a blog post, the photographer says:

The light was awful, the editing is equally bad; it’s far, far from being a great photo. But I was struck by the fact that despite living here for 17 years, walking these same streets day in, day out, one quick flight with the Mavic and I saw a view of the place that I had never ever seen before.

I love that it gives the impression that the A57 is some near-Parisian tree-lined boulevard, and that my childhood suburb is perched on a cliff overlooking the City Centre. Neither of these things are true, of course, but looking at this here, they could be.

We’re after a variety of views, eras and seasons and your photos don’t have to be taken using an expensive camera.

Please email your entries as high resolution jpgs to crosspoolnews@gmail.com by Thursday 31 August 2018 with the subject line ‘Crosspool calendar photos’. Remember to include your name and contact details.
