Friends of the Botanical Gardens 2011 programme

The Friends of the Botanical Gardens 2011 programme (Word document, 32KB) has been published, which may be of interest to Crosspool gardeners.

It includes details ofvarious events throughout the year including talks, meetings, plant sales and outdoor activities.

Friends of the Botanical Gardens was set up in 1984 and aims to support the gardens and also provide the opportunity for gardeners of all abilities to meet, socialise and learn more about horticulture.

New members are welcome, but you can also attend any event for the modest fee of £2.

Spring bulb planting continues on Saturday 9 October

Crosspool Forum is inviting local residents to join in with the planting of 1,000 crocus and 3,000 daffodil bulbs.

The first planting session took place yesterday and the plan is to continue this coming Saturday, 9 October 2010.

If you can spare an hour and would like to join in then meet 10am at the junction of Delph House Road and Manchester Road.

Green waste collections this Autumn in S10

Crosspool householders are reminded that Veolia are due to collect green waste sacks this week (commencing 13 September 2010) in S10.

The monthly S10 collections will then continue in the weeks commencing:

  • 11 October 2010
  • 8 November 2010

After the November collection, the service will revert back to the previous procedure, where residents are required to to phone Veolia on 0114 2734 567 option 1 and then leave them outside property boundaries for collection on the arranged date.
