Food Works Community Food Growing

Carver Fields this Sunday, 26 July, between 2 and 4pm

Food Works are really looking forward to getting started on the new community food‑growing project at Carver Fields and are keen to involve as many neighbours as possible.

Whether you’re curious, enthusiastic, or just want to find out what’s planned, they’d be delighted to talk with you.
They’ll be at Carver Fields this Sunday, 26 July, between 2 and 4pm for a relaxed drop‑in chat. Come along, share your thoughts, and help shape something positive for the area.

Your donations wanted for local food bank

Lydgate Junior School is inviting Crosspool residents to donate chocolates and selection boxes to Crookes food bank in the run-up to Christmas.

You can leave contributions at Cocker & Carr estate agent on Sandygate Road from Monday 14 to Thursday 17 December.

A previous food bank collection by parents and friends of the school collected 662kg of food on one week, enough to make 1,576 meals and feed 137 people.

Sound of Music sing-a-long in aid of S6 food bank this Saturday

To raise awareness and donations for the Sheffield S6 Trussell Trust Foodbank, Crookes Community Singers are hosting a screening of the classic film Sound of Music – complete with sing-a-long subtitles so the audience can all join in.

There’s no admission fee – but everyone is asked to bring a suitable donation to the food bank. The event takes place on Saturday 5 April 2014 at St Thomas’ Church in Crookes. Doors open 1.45pm for 2pm start.

There’ll also be an optional fancy dress competition with prizes awarded for best adult and child (no political dress admitted.)
