The four local Crosspool churches have announced their programme of services for the Christmas season.

Tapton Hill Congregational Church

Get involved in Crosspool Women’s Institute

Fancy being part of the largest women’s voluntary organisation in the country? This year the Women’s Institute celebrated its centenary and is going from strength to strength.

Crosspool WI has just welcomed in a new president, Dawn Boulter, so it’s a very exciting time to join.

As we move in to 2016 we have a fantastic programme of events, which will soon be available to pick up from Stephen Hill church.

Come along to Lydgate Infant School on Saturday 5th Dec from 12 – 2pm for our annual Christmas Fair.

See Frozen’s Elsa, Ana & the wonderful Lydgate school choir perform… don’t forget to wear your best Christmas outfit or dress ❄️❄️❄️

Meet Father Christmas & his helpers.

There will be a Christmas trail, tombola, hampers, children’s Christmas crafts, tattoos, face painting, balloons, games, refreshments, food, cakes lots more…

Sunshine Pizza Oven & Pizza making for kids.

Fabulous raffle prizes will be up for grabs in our Christmas Raffle & hamper prize draw, see below for prizes, tickets available on the day.

Roadshow planned for upcoming Manchester Road works

New Welcome to Crosspool flower box on Manchester Road

Work as part of Streets Ahead to upgrade Manchester Road will start towards the end of November.

The streetlights will be replaced as part of the first phase of the project, with the installation process taking up to six weeks. The Manchester Road trees will also be assessed and possibly replaced.

You can find out more about the planned work at an upcoming roadshow which will be visiting Stephen Hill church on Tuesday 24 November, 4-7pm.

Salvation Army Brass Band Christmas concert in Crosspool

The Salvation Army Brass Band will lead a traditional Christmas concert of carols and Christmas music at Stephen Hill Methodist Church at 7.45pm on Wednesday 16 December.

There is no admission charge but a minimum donation of £5 is suggested. All the money raised goes to support the work of the Salvation Army among the destitute and lonely.

On Saturday 31 October Crosspool pub The Plough is hosting a Halloween party.

It’ll run 7pm to midnight, and children are welcome until 9pm.

There will be a disco and fancy dress prizes. All food is £2.50.

Crosspool Forum’s  AGM/Open Meeting on Thursday 29 October at St Columba’s will start at 7pm.

Come along and give your concerns on local issues to local councillors, the police, officials from Streets Ahead contractor Amey and First Bus.

£2,500 raised by Save the Children Frozen Family Fun Day

12041912_10156107679480541_923616862_nSaturday’s Frozen Family Fun Day  raised over £2,500 for the Save the Children child refugee appeal.

The family day out organised by Donna Fyfe took place at Wesley Hall in Crookes. There were live performances from Queen Elsa and Princess Anna, face and nail painting, a bouncy castle, raffle, as well as cake and craft stalls.
