Successful festival quiz night at The Sportsman
Wednesday’s quiz night at The Sportsman pub was well attended as usual.
The local quiz regulars were joined by visitors from Stannington and Hillsborough as resident quizmaster Roger chose a selection of traditional and Crosspool quiz questions to make the evening enjoyable for all.
History walks delve into Crosspool’s past
The two Crosspool history walks went ahead this week despite the drizzly weather.
28 people attended the Tuesday morning walk and 15 ventured out on Wednesday evening.
A big thank you to Jan Millward for a very interesting two-hour journey into Crosspool’s past.
The walks are part of the 2017 Crosspool Festival, which finishes on Sunday.

All take place at The Corner Chapel, Tapton Hill Congregational Church, Manchester Road.
BFG film showing (part of Crosspool Festival)
For children on Saturday 1 July 10.30am-12.30pm. You can also come from 10.15am to make BFG ears and dream jars. Please note that this is a PG film so not suitable for very small children. £3 per child refreshments provided.
Chosen play
A 0ne-woman play based on the life of Mary. Saturday 8 July. The performance begins at 7.30pm. Donations welcome. Refreshments provided. See hazeltwig.org.uk for more details about the play.
The Great Picnic
A children’s morning in the summer holidays. August 17 10am-12.30pm. Games, Crafts, a bible story and the children will make their own picnic lunch to eat outside (weather permitting). £4 per child which includes all the food. Places are limited. Crosspool Festival 2017 starts today
Our annual community festival begins tonight with the unveiling of the well dressing at the top of Selborne Road at 7pm.

This year the festival proceeds will benefit the Lord Mayor’s Charities:
Sheffield Kidney Institute – Northern General Hospital
Sheffield Young Carers – An independent charity, dedicated to supporting young carers across the city since 1997.
Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB) – Mappin Street
Sheffield Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) – making a difference to people living with dementia
ArtWorks  – St Polycarps CC Wisewood Lane
Open mic night at Nest cafe on Thursday 29 June
It’s your chance to play a couple of songs, unplugged and with no microphone, to a friendly Crosspool Festival crowd – or just turn up and watch!
Wanted: volunteers to help run a stall at the Summer Fayre
On Saturday 1 July the annual Summer Fayre takes place on the Coldwell Lane sports field from 1-4pm.
We’re a bit short on volunteers this year so if you can offer to help run a stall then please email crosspoolforum@gmail.com.

People were invited to submit a photo on the theme Wild Crosspool.
The judges have shortlisted photos in categories and would like you to choose which ones really capture the theme.
