Open mic night returns to Nest cafe on Friday 6 July

A special open mic edition of Nest’s popular acoustic night is taking place as part of this year’s Crosspool Festival.
It’s your chance to play a couple of songs, unplugged and with no microphone, to a friendly Crosspool Festival crowd – or just turn up and watch!
To finish the evening there will be a special set of folk and originals from acoustic night favourites The Finch Charmers.
Have you seen the Crosspool well dressing boards?

Last year’s well dressing helpers are being asked to check their garages and garden huts as we are not sure where they were stored after the 2017 festival.
If you have any information please get in touch with Crosspool Forum using crosspoolforum@gmail.com or 07713 687 955.

Did you lose this pouch and its contents at the 2016 Summer Fayre?

Crosspool Forum committee are trying to reunite this pouch with the owner. It was lost at the 2016 Summer Fayre at CDYST on Coldwell Lane. The contents are quite special and may have some sentimental value. If you think it is yours, please email crosspoolforum@gmail.com.

Crosspool – as you’ve never seen it before

An exiled former resident has posted some remarkable pictures of Crosspool online.
In a blog post, the photographer says:
The light was awful, the editing is equally bad; it’s far, far from being a great photo. But I was struck by the fact that despite living here for 17 years, walking these same streets day in, day out, one quick flight with the Mavic and I saw a view of the place that I had never ever seen before.
I love that it gives the impression that the A57 is some near-Parisian tree-lined boulevard, and that my childhood suburb is perched on a cliff overlooking the City Centre. Neither of these things are true, of course, but looking at this here, they could be.
There are further photos from the same shoot on the photographer’s Flickr account.
