Open Meeting

Crosspool Forum Open Meeting this Thursday 27th January 7pm at St Columba’s Church Hall, Manchester Road. 

Local councillors and the police will be on hand to listen to your concerns on local issues.
Guest Speakers:- St Columba’s Church and King Edwards School.

The government has announced that the measures put in place under plan B in England will be lifted on Thursday 27th January.
To protect ourselves and others in crowded and indoor spaces, where we may come into contact with people we do not normally meet, it is suggested that we continue to sanitize and wear a face mask.

Just Four More Days

Just Four More Days left to enjoy the experience of traveling on the inexpensive and convenient X57 bus route over the picturesque Snake Pass to Manchester.

The SnakeX57 service, operated by Hulleys of Baslow, provided a useful link from Sheffield – Crosspool – Ladybower – Derwent – Glossop – Hyde and on to Manchester.  
Sadly this socially friendly and efficient service will no longer run after this Saturday 8th January 2022

Bus Route to be Withdrawn

A reminder that the X57bus service to Manchester is due to stop running after the last day of operation on Saturday 8 January 2022  

The X57 Snake route, operated by Hulleys of Baslow, has for the past 18 months, provided a useful link from Sheffield over the Snake Pass through Glossop and onto Manchester.

Sadly, despite the service receiving a positive reception at its launch, the lack of passenger numbers has prompted a decision for the service to be withdrawn.

Hulleys Managing Director; “For a small operator such as ourselves launching such a high-profile service connecting two cities over a tortuous road was always going to be challenging, but we gave it our very best day after day, in spite of the weather, road closures, temporary traffic lights and so on.”  “If buses could run on goodwill then who knows; a huge thank you to those who supported it, either on-board or just cheering from the roadside.

Crosspool Precinct Carolling

Tomorrow Saturday 18th December, 11.00am to 12noon.
With a gentle breeze and very little chance of rain, just wrap up warm, bring your neighbours & friends, grab a takeaway drink from a local Crosspool café and enjoy Christmas Carolling with a Brass Quartet playing in the Crosspool Precinct.
Brass Quartet

The Musicians all play in different brass bands and love getting together at Christmas for carolling. They will have a collection bucket and voluntary donations are very much appreciated which will go towards the running costs of their bands.

Planned Phone Mast at CDYST

You have until Wednesday 22nd December to comment on the proposal to erect a 20 m EE mast at the CDYST, Coldwell Lane.

Apparently, 23 other sites were looked at and dismissed due to their close proximity to residential property and schools.

The Crosspool District Youth Sports Trust (C.D.Y.S.T.) is a non-profit making charitable trust set up to benefit the local community in providing sporting and recreational facilities in a hall and on outside grounds.

These facilities are in constant use by the youth of the community. Every year hundreds of children use these facilities for, dance classes,
playgroups, children’s parties, Makenki Karate, girls’ & boys’ football teams, and many other youth activities.

It was always anticipated that the spread of the Covid virus would intensify in the colder winter weather.

In response to the rising infection rates, following the arrival of the Omicron Variant in the UK, you now must wear a face-covering in most indoor public places, at large venues and events, and on public transport.

In the week up to November 26th, there were twenty- eight new cases in Sandygate and Crosspool; an infection rate of 444.2 per 100,000 people.
