Suspension of Garden Waste Collections

No Green Bin collection in Crosspool tomorrow Tuesday 30th July

A temporary suspension of garden waste collections from July 29 to August 11 is a measure taken to ensure the prioritisation of other essential waste and recycling bin collections.

As a form of compensation for this interruption, an additional garden waste bin collection will be scheduled for the end of November. This ensures that residents will receive the full number of collections as outlined in the terms and conditions of the service. It’s a balanced approach to maintaining service quality while adapting to operational demands.

At the end of May Crosspool beauty therapist Suzy Kerfoot made her way to Boston USA to compete in her first international competition as a member of “Team Great Britain “at the “Masters Gymnastics World Cup.”

The journey to the Masters Gymnastics World Cup in Boston marks a significant milestone, reflecting the culmination of dedication, passion, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Achieving a personal ranking at an international level is a testament to the hard work and commitment that goes beyond the confines of national representation. The narrow miss from a podium finish by a mere 0.8 marks is a bittersweet reminder of the fine margins that define competitive sports. Excelling in the Vault and Floor routines to secure a world ranking of number 5 is an extraordinary accomplishment, especially considering the personal challenges and responsibilities that come with being a parent and business owner. The support from the community, family, and sponsors underscores the collective spirit that sports can foster, uniting people in celebration of individual and team achievements.

Festival Exhibition Winners 2024

The local art, craft, and photographic exhibition showcased a remarkable variety of 50 entries, capturing the creative spirit of the community.
The event was a vibrant celebration of talent, with over 125 attendees participating in the voting process to select their preferred exhibits. In parallel, the culinary skills of the participants shone through in the Bake-off. A delicious success that featured an array of delectable treats across three categories.
The event was not only a feast for the eyes but also a delight for the taste buds, as the fortunate visitors had the unique opportunity to sample the array of cakes and biscuits entered into the competition, making it a truly immersive experience.
This event highlights the importance of community engagement and the joy that shared artistic and culinary endeavours can bring.

Crosspool Festival Concert

Set to take place at the Stephen Hill Church, this Saturday 6th July 7.30pm, the Crosspool Festival Concert promises to be a delightful evening of music and community spirit.

The event will feature an array of talented performers including the Majesty Gospel Choir, known for their uplifting and powerful vocal performances. Fretworks will bring a touch of stringed sophistication to the evening, while Jean and Lee Eyre are expected to enchant with their harmonious duets. Paul Gilbert’s presence hints at a repertoire of engaging melodies, and the trio of Tony Prescott, Bob and Margaret Townrow will undoubtedly add to the diverse musical tapestry of the night.

Come along to St Columba Church and see and chat with local residents who will be displaying their impressive skills at the Crosspool Festival Exhibition.

Tuesday, July 2nd.Morning.

Andrew Robinson will be doing origami.
Afternoon. Mavis Roadhouse will be lace-making.
Sylvia Hartley will be doing some clay crafts.

Wednesday, July 3rd

Also, on display on Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be scores of paintings, crafts and photographs from local people for you to admire; and you will be able to vote for your favourites; with the winners receiving a prize sponsored by Cocker and Carr EstateAgents.
