After being temporarily suspended for two weeks, due to the impact of COVID-19 on Veolia staffing levels , Sheffield City Council have announced an end to the temporary suspension of garden waste collections for Sheffield residents,
In compliance with the service’s terms and conditions, customers will receive an additional collection added on at the end of the service to account for the temporary suspension.
Spacepad Construction has submitted an appeal against the refusal of planning permission to demolish “The Plough” Sandygate Road, Crosspool.
After the Sheffield City Council made their decision to refuse planning permission in August last year, Spacepad Construction lodged an appeal in January this year.
The Planning Inspectorate, (having only just got round to processing the appeal earlier this month), will have copies of all of the comments/objections made on the original application. DO NOT direct any enquiries to Sheffield Planning Department, all enquiries or comments must go through the Planning Inspectorate. The appeal is being conducted on the basis of ‘written representations’ meaning that no hearings or meetings will be held. The Planning Inspectorate aims to make a decision within eight weeks.
Due to COVID-19 impacting staffing levels, garden waste collections are suspended for two weeks.
.The situation continues to be review and the service will resume as soon as possible. In the meantime, please keep your green bin on your property until collections restart.
Where possible, please keep your garden waste at your home until the service recommences. If this is not possible, you can take your garden waste to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Details relating to refunds or additional collections will be confirmed once the level of disruption has been assessed.
Resources are being prioritised to make sure black bin and recycling collections can operate as normal.

The Sheffield City Council has received a planning application that you may want to comment on, the deadline for this is 30th July 2021.
The planning application, from CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd, is for a 20m high 5G telecoms mast with a wraparound cabinet at the base, 3 additional cabinets and associated ancillary works on land adjoining, 1 Stephen Hill Sheffield S105NT. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, July’s hugely popular Crosspool Summer Fayre has had to be cancelled for the second year running.
This year’s event was due to take place on Saturday 3rd July, but with current government COVID-19 restrictions on mass gathering now having been extended to the 19th July 2021; it is with deep regret and disappointment that we have to cancel the Fayre for the second consecutive year.
This annual event, organised by the Crosspool Forum volunteers would normally attract hundreds of people to the CDYST sports field, Coldwell Lane, to enjoy an afternoon of fun and entertainment for the whole family.
We realise that this will be a huge disappointment to those who usually visit the fayre, and to our loyal stall holders’, entertainers and exhibitors, especially after such a difficult year. However with our NHS and other public services predicted to be under significant pressure and public safety still our top priority, we know that residents and visitors will fully understand that regrettably having to cancel was unavoidable.
There are hopes that there is light at the end of the tunnel and things may get better.
Please keep your eye on this website and the notice board in the precinct as if allowed we hope to hold a smaller event at a venue in Crosspool.
Local communities may soon have control over grass verges and small green spaces.

To support wildlife and protect the natural environment, a Sheffield councillor has campaigned to give residents the power to manage and maintain grass verges and small green spaces.
It is hoped that If residents are prepared to see more of this rather than plain cut grass, wild flowers and the insects that dependant on them will thrive.
