Children’s Christmas Party

To bring joy and friendship to the Crosspool community, last Saturday the Crosspool Forum hosted their annual Children’s Christmas Party at St Columba’s Church. A magical festive afternoon of fun, music and refreshments for the children and their families.

Barney Baloney and his sidekick Henry the Cheeky Monkey entertained the children with their amazing and hilarious magic show of incredible tricks, which left them speechless and astonished. The children were overjoyed and screamed with laughter at the funny mishaps and blunders that Henry caused and when he sprayed the audience with water. Their faces were bright and happy, and their laughter was contagious, creating a mood of pure fun and enthusiasm. The adults couldn’t resist chuckling along with the little ones and getting caught up in the sheer wonder of it all.

After the mesmerising performance, the children, their parents, grandparents, aunties, and uncles made their way to the snack table, eager to refuel and satisfy their taste buds. Excited chatter and happy laughter echoed as everyone indulged in their favourite treats, savouring each delicious bite.

With their hunger satisfied and their energy replenished, it was time for the children to shine. All eyes turned towards them as they showcased their talent and passion for singing. With willing voices, they belted out popular Christmas tunes, hitting every high note with precision and filling the room with their infectious enthusiasm. The onlookers couldn’t help but be amazed at the talent displayed by these young stars. It was a day that would be cherished in their memories for years to come, a day where the children truly shone as the brightest stars.

As the party drew to a close, all the children accompanied by a grown-up, joined a long but cheerful queue to see the special guest of the day: Father Christmas himself! He came early this year to surprise the little ones with some awesome presents, and he even let them take selfies with him. Everyone had a wonderful time and thanked the Crosspool Forum for organising such a fun and festive event.

The organisers expressed their gratitude; to Steve for managing the event; the volunteers and the Crosspool Pet Shop for their very much appreciated help and support; our local Tesco for their generous donation of raffle prizes; our local Spar who, as in previous years, generously contributed to the event, and to the Sheffield City Council for their help in funding this year’s party, which was a huge success and a hit with everyone.

Community Volunteers

The Crosspool shopping precinct now has a festive look thanks to the Christmas trees with sparkling lights. The trees were provided by the Valley Side Garden Centre and decorated by our community volunteers.
Crosspool Forum coordinated this event, which brought together groups of people on a cold Sunday morning to brighten up the area.

The volunteers and local businesses have shown remarkable generosity and spirit by donating their time and resources to make the precinct more festive. Steve and Ian are very grateful to them and to Direct Travel, who kindly let them use their concourse to set up and decorate the Christmas trees.
