This recent exhibition showcasing the extraordinary creativity and talent of Crosspool was yet another resounding success!

Crosspool estate agents, Cocker & Carr kindly sponsored the prizes for the winners and runners-up of the exhilarating two-day festival exhibition

 This captivating event encompassed a wide range of artistic endeavours, including art, craft, photography, and cake-making competitions.
The exhibition was a true celebration of talent, featuring captivating displays from local members of the Sheffield Photography Society, Sheffield Philatelic Society, as well as skilled lace makers. Additionally, the alpaca wool creations from Holly Hagg Community Farm added a charming touch to the exhibition, ensuring a diverse array of artistic expressions.

With over 140 breathtaking items on display, there was something to captivate the admiration and enjoyment of every visitor. The exhibition also provided an opportunity for visitors to engage and participate, as more than 130 attendees had the chance to cast their votes for their favourite art piece and photograph.
Meanwhile, a panel of esteemed judges meticulously evaluated the craft and cake-making categories. Their discerning eyes and expertise allowed them to recognize exceptional skill and outstanding craftsmanship from the participants.

As a token of appreciation, Cocker & Carr will proudly display the winning entries for the next week, allowing the wider community to marvel at the sheer brilliance of the works.

In the Art category, Beth Eastwood secured the top spot among the talented contestants above the age of 16, while Sue Sherwood claimed a well-deserved second place.

Moving on to the under-16s category, Neha Chonkar emerged as the winner, showcasing incredible talent at such a young age, while Thomas Hickin secured an impressive second place.

Focusing on the captivating realm of Photography, it is worth mentioning that Andrew Graves not only claimed the first-place position but also demonstrated exceptional skill by securing second place among contestants above the age of 16.

The Craft category was another highlight of the exhibition, with participants showcasing their exceptional skills and creativity. Among contestants above the age of 16 impressing the judges with their remarkable craftsmanship, Ken Rutter emerged as the deserving winner. Sylvia Hartley, with her incredible talent and attention to detail, secured a commendable second place.

The exciting competition for Cakes!
Taking home, the well-deserved first place in the over-16s category was the talented Leonie Souster! Her cake wowed the judges with its impeccable design, delicious flavours, and flawless execution. It was truly a masterpiece!
Securing the second position was the incredibly creative Gillian Nottingham. Her cake impressed everyone with its unique concept and mouthwatering taste. These talented individuals showcased their love for baking and left a lasting impression on everyone present at the competition.

The event will be held for two days, providing ample time for visitors to immerse themselves in the vibrant and diverse creative atmosphere. Day 1            TUESDAY 4th July, 10am to 4pm.

Art and Craft Creations.
This is open to Under 16s; Everyone over 16 years.
You can submit up to two creations that you have made yourself.
You must include a card that gives details of

  • Your name
  • Age category
  • Your contact email and phone number.

You can now drop off your entries at Cocker & Carr Estate Agents. The closing date is midday on Friday 30th June.

Photography
This is open to Under 16s; Everyone over 16 years.
You can submit a maximum of two images and the prints can be any size from A5 or A3. They can be print only or be mounted or framed on the back you must state

  • Your name
  • Age category
  • Your contact email and phone number
  • A title for your photo.

You can now drop off your entries at Cocker & Carr Estate Agents. The closing date is midday on Friday 30th June.

Crosspool Festival 2023

2023 Crosspool Festival Art, Craft, Photography, Cake Baking Exhibition, Demonstrations and Awards. Tuesday 4th & Wednesday 5th July, St Columba’s church.

This summer, Crosspool Festival is holding a two-day exhibition for the people of Crosspool to showcase their creativity in the areas of Art, Craft, Photography and Cake Making.

Entry Details
Anyone who lives, works, volunteers or goes to school in the Crosspool area can enter and have their submission exhibited. There will be a chance also to win some prizes, which are sponsored by Cocker & Carr Estate Agents.

There will also be demonstrations on Spinning Alpaca Fleece on Tuesday and Lace Making on Wednesday; plus an introduction to Philately; a fun and addictive hobby of stamp collecting. There will also be a display from Crosspool Members of the Sheffield Photography Society.

There is no theme to follow, just show us what you can create. You can enter as many of the categories as you want, but no more than two entries per category.

The Cake Baking and Crafts will be judged on Wednesday 5 July at St Columba’s Church. 

The Photography and art entries will not be chosen by a judge. Rather, the visitors to the exhibition will be able to vote for their favourites in both the under-16s and over-16s categories.

After the exhibition, Cocker & Carr will then put on a window display for some of the entries in the art, craft and photography categories

How to Enter.

Cake Baking.
This is open to Under 16s; Everyone over 16 years.
You can submit up to two cakes that you have made yourself.
Your cakes can be handed in at St Columba’s Church either on Monday 3rd July between 6 -7 pm or Tuesday 4th July from 9-10 am. You must include a card that gives details of

      Art and Craft Creations.

      This summer, Crosspool Festival is holding a two-day exhibition for the people of Crosspool to showcase their creativity in the areas of Art – Craft – Photography and Cake Making.
      This is open to anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Crosspool.
      There is no theme to follow, just show us what you can create.
      There will also be Demonstrations on Spinning Alpaca Fleece on Tuesday 4th and Lace Making on Wednesday 5th ; plus, an introduction to Philately, a fun and addictive hobby of stamp collecting.
      The categories for entry are as follows: – ArtCraftCake & Photography:
      (two age categories for each)

      • Everyone over 16 years.

      In the Photography Exhibition you can enter up to two images and the print can be any size from A5 to  A3.
      They can be print only or mounted and/or framed.
      The photography entries will not be chosen by a judge. Rather, the visitors to the exhibition will be able to vote for their favourite image in both the under-16s and over-16s categories.
      In the Art, Craft & Cake categories, there are no restrictions on the size and Judges will make the awards.
      Details of when and where you can hand in your entries will be announced nearer the time.

      Entries will be put on display for everyone to view and admire at
      St Columba’s Church, Manchester Road on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th July 2023. Refreshments will be available, courtesy of Crosspool WI.

      After the exhibition, Cocker & Carr will display in their window some of the entries in the art, craft and photography categories.
