For the last two years a well dressing has been produced in Crosspool as part of the festival celebrations.
There’s a meeting at Stephen Hill Church on Friday 26 September at 10.30am for anyone interested in getting involved with next year’s well dressing. No experience needed.

51 bus route could change as part of university improvements
Proposed improvements to the University of Sheffield campus could see the city-bound 51 bus rerouted from Western Bank/Mappin Street to Glossop Road via Clarkson Street and Durham Road.
The change would allow for the pedestrianisation of part of Leavygreave Road and a possible one-way circulatory system to be put in place using Western Bank for outbound and Glossop Road for inbound traffic.
Other ideas that are part of the new proposals include installing pedestrian crossings on Western Bank and improving Mappin Street.
The University is asking for residents to feed back on the masterplan at upcoming events or using their online form.

Former Artisan building in Crosspool to become Indian restaurant
A new curry house is to open in the former Artisan restaurant on Sandygate Road.
Work is currently being undertaken on the building. We don’t know yet of the planned opening date but the work should take around 3 weeks.
Ali the owner lives in Bradford and intends to employ a manager to run his new Crosspool restaurant.
Over the years the restaurant in that location has been known as Thyme, Smith’s and most recently Artisan, which closed in January. The upstairs area was also reinvented under different themes including fish restaurant Catch and budget eatery Canteen.
Older residents may remember the building operating as an Indian restaurant before chef and entrepreneur Richard Smith took it on.
Activities for children resume at St Columba’s
Autumn activities for children at St Columba’s church on Manchester Road are starting for the new term.
Stepping Stones, the music and story-time for pre-schoolers and their carers, is on Fridays at 1.45pm and is now fortnightly.
Messy Church starts up again on 27 September. This is a time of fun and crafts for families with primary school-age children, on Saturday from 4-6pm. The session includes family tea.
In collaboration with St Timothy’s church Crookes, St Solumba’s is offering a youth Alpha course, for young people aged 11+ who are interested in the Christian faith. There will be food, fun, video clips and opportunity to discuss in small groups. This will be on Thursdays at 6pm starting on 18 September.

Hagg Lane & District Gardeners’ Allotments Society hut
Earlier today Crosspool Forum hosted a Special Open Meeting at St Columba’s to discuss recent vandalism to local allotments.
Fifty three allotment tenants from Marsh Lane, Hagg Lane, Rosco Bank and Rivelin attended with a view to discussing how to prevent such problems in the future.

Local shops targeted in mobile phone theft
A mobile phone was stolen from Bamforths greengrocer last month as thieves targeted Crosspool shops.
On Thursday 7 August two men were seen acting suspiciously as they visited the precinct shops and distracted owners. An iPhone was stolen from Bamforths.
Police are investigating and want to speak with two men captured on CCTV. Anyone with information should call them by dialling 101.
