Rearranged date for Nest acoustic night
The next evening of acoustic pop at Nest cafe on Sandygate Road will take place on Sunday 20 November.
The event was previously scheduled for last month, but had to be rearranged due to a licensing issue.
This time you can hear live and unplugged Sheffield indie favourites The Theories, indiepop trio Robberie, who are part-based in Crosspool and singer-songwriter Duncan Parsons.

Crosspool Hardware shop shuts it doors

At 2pm this afternoon Crosspool Hardware closed for good.
The shop’s stock had been on sale at a reduced rate over the last couple of weeks and trading finally ceased earlier today.
The owners of the business tried to sell it as a going concern but weren’t able to. They’re now moving away from the area.
The shop will undoubtedly be missed by local residents. Its closure leaves another empty unit in the precinct, with the former Aligarh restaurant still standing empty since it shut 12 months ago.
Flower Design evening preview event on Friday 25 November

On Friday 25 November Crosspool florist Flower Design is having a late night opening event.
Between 6 and 8pm you’ll be able to preview their Christmas wreaths and table decorations at their Sandygate Road shop.
Refreshments will be served and you’ll get 10% off everything off everything bought or ordered on the night.
Shopping bag found at precinct bus stop
A shopping bag containing various perishable fruit items has been left by accident at the precinct bus stop within the last couple of days.
The black bag is cotton carrier type with pink dogs printed on it.
The owner can reclaim their lost property from the Crosspool Pets.
Nest cafe acoustic night postponed
Sunday’s acoustic night at Nest cafe in Crosspool has had to be cancelled due to a council licensing issue.
The organisers hope to rearrange the event soon, so look out for a new date.
Your votes wanted to help raise funds for Benty Lane Scout Hut
Benty Lane Scout leaders have been in touch to ask for your help raising funds to develop their Crosspool headquarters:
We are fundraising for the Scout HQ extension and modernisation. We’ave been approved to apply for funding through the Aviva Community Fund. This funding is between £10-25,000 so is extremely important and life-changing for our scout group and local community venue.
We however need you and anyone you know to vote for us:
Vote for the project here
You just need to register and please give us your 10 votes. The more votes we get, the more chance we have of receiving this substantial funding to make this project come alive.
Please remember we only have 26 days to get as many votes as possible and it costs nothing to vote.

2017 Crosspool Calendar available this week

A new calendar featuring Crosspool scenes will go on sale in local shops on Saturday 29 October.
Many of the photos in the calendar are once again taken by local residents and there are also some archive shots showing familiar locations looking very different from times gone by.
The 2017 Crosspool calendar is available from Saturday for just £4 from Nest cafe, Crosspool Pets, Enhance, GT News and Charisma and, if they arrive back from the printers in time, at the Open Meeting on Thursday 27 October.
Money raised will help Crosspool Forum funds for local events and improvements to our neighbourhood.
