You are invited to Crosspool Forum’s Open Meeting tomorrow night at St Columba’s Church. It starts at 7pm.

Crosspool Forum seventh AGM and Open Meeting, 28 October 2010

You are invited to Crosspool Forum’s AGM and Open Meeting on Thursday night at St Columba’s Church. It starts at 7pm.

    No resignations or nomination received; nominations, four vacancies exist on the committee (15 members maximum)

    In Louise’s absence, PCSO Garry Hizam will give an update on policing in the area

    Andrew Ashforth (Environmental enforcement officer, guidance on how to keep within the law).

    Also hoping to attend, Carolyn Sleath (providing information on the BBC’s First Click Initiative locally)

New benches in Crosspool

Two benches have been installed in the neighbourhood by Crosspool Forum, at a cost of just under £2,000.

The first is located at the top of Stephen Hill and the other on the corner of Sandygate Road/Manchester Road.

The Stephen Hill bench, which was stolen five years ago, is dedicated in memory of the late Hugh Buxton.

Volunteers required

There are currently plenty of opportunities to get involved with various community events and activities in Crosspool:

The Soup Wagon

The Soup Wagon runs by St Columba’s and Stephen Hill churches on Monday evenings between September and May at Eldon Street car park. It need more volunteers to distribute food to the homeless on a 4 to 6-week rota.

If you can spare an hour or so every once in a while please contact Eddie Sherwood on 266 0891 and eddie.sherwood@btinternet.com; or Bob Townrow on 230 1098 and towniesrm@talktalk.net.

Badminton Club

An enthusiastic helper/assistant leader wanted for Stephen Hill Junior Badminton club which meets from 6-7:30 pm on Thursdays at the church. The club is for 10-18 year olds. It would be lots of amusement for the right  person. If you are interested, contact Bob Townrow on 230 1098 and towniesrm@talktalk.net.

Luncheon club washing (with free lunch!)

Don’t say there’s no such thing as a free lunch! Volunteers are required to go on the washing up rota (6 weekly) at Crosspool Luncheon Club held at Stephen Hill church. A free lunch is provided! The club runs Wednesdays 12-2pm. If you can assist please contact Jean Smith on 2308250 or  jean.W.smith@btinternet.com.
