Festival Exhibition Winners 2024

The local art, craft, and photographic exhibition showcased a remarkable variety of 50 entries, capturing the creative spirit of the community.
The event was a vibrant celebration of talent, with over 125 attendees participating in the voting process to select their preferred exhibits. In parallel, the culinary skills of the participants shone through in the Bake-off. A delicious success that featured an array of delectable treats across three categories.
The event was not only a feast for the eyes but also a delight for the taste buds, as the fortunate visitors had the unique opportunity to sample the array of cakes and biscuits entered into the competition, making it a truly immersive experience.
This event highlights the importance of community engagement and the joy that shared artistic and culinary endeavours can bring.

Crosspool Festival CreativityShowcase

 Crosspool Festival Week, Friday, June 28th to Sunday7th July 2024

This July, Crosspool Festival is again holding its popular two-day exhibition for the people of Crosspool to showcase their creativity in the areas of Art, Craft, Photography and Cake Making.

This is open to anyone who lives, works, visits, shops, worships, or goes to school in Crosspool.
There is no theme to follow, just show us what you can create.

There will also be demonstrations on woodturning, painting and lace making. If you would like to demonstrate your hobby craft, then email crosspoolfestivalphotos@gmail.com

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to vote for their favourite entry in the art–craft and photography categories. ( insert re cake judging)

 The categories for entry are as follows: –
Art, Craft, Photography: (two categories for each)

  • Under 16 years.
  • Everyone over 16 years old.

In the Photography Exhibition you can enter up to two images and the prints can be any size from A5 to  A3. They can be printed only or be mounted and/or framed.
There is no restriction on the size in the art or craft categories.
Entries will be put on display for everyone to view and admire at St Columba’s Church, Manchester Road on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd July 2024.
After the exhibition, Cocker & Carr will display in their window some of the entries in the art, craft and photography categories

This year we are introducing a new approach to cake baking…. Crosspool Bake Off.
This will be on 2nd July and also held at St Columba Church.

  • BRING YOUR BAKES TO ST COLUMBA’S CHURCH ON TUESDAY 2ND JULY 10AM – 12PM.
  • PLEASE INCLUDE A LIST OF INGREDIENTS.
  • RESULTS AND TASTING 1PM – 4PM.

Angels return to Crosspool this Christmas

This Christmas, St Columba’s church in Crosspool is celebrating its second Angel Festival, using large willow angel figures created for the church by local artist Lesley Warren.

The word angel means “messenger” and community groups have been invited to create an angel that expresses the message of their group this Christmas. The host of angels will be exhibited at St. Columba’s over the weekend before Christmas. The exhibition is open from 10am-2pm on Saturday 17 December, with hand bell ringers at 11am.

On Sunday 18 December, the exhibition is open 3-4 pm with an Angel Carol Service at 4pm. Refreshments will be served and donations received in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, who have been a huge support to a local family.
