Although the church is presently being used for vaccinations, the Crosspool Community Hub is still able to help if you need them. Church and volunteer staff are frequently in the church office to take your calls.
All volunteers are DBS checked and are ready to help with any needs the changing situation brings:- shopping – collecting prescriptions – dog walking or maybe you would just like a chat over the phone.

You might not have seen us out & about recently but Girlguiding is still here & happening locally!
At the present time we feel it is more important than ever to offer girls & young women a place of their own where they can have a break from everything else, switch off & just have some fun in a safe environment.
Rainbow, Brownie & Guide units have been meeting ‘Virtually’ thanks to the availability of ‘Zoom’ & the girls continue to see their friends, earn badges & learn new skills. We’ve even been able to invite some special visitors along as well! Everyone from Santa, to Yoga teachers to animal handlers have been able to take part as well.
We know that there are so many people who are now getting fed up with the ‘groundhog day’ feeling that the Covid restrictions have created, so why not try something to break up your routine? There are many benefits to volunteering & the adults certainly gain just as much as the girls do in Guiding – if not more so. It’s a good way to build up skills & improve your mental health
A large proportion of our lovely volunteers are also employed as Key Workers so don’t have the same amount of time to be able to run the meetings & would really welcome some help. This could be as a regular volunteer at meetings, helping with some of the admin – especially accounts, or do you have a skill that could be shared with the girls via Zoom?

Take a break from your everyday routine – help Ranmoor and Nethergreen Girlguiding continue in the local area for future generations to enjoy.
Hallam District is urgently looking for some amazing adult volunteers to take over leadership of two Girlguiding Rainbow groups in the area which may otherwise be threatened with closure.
Currently meeting online, it’s a way to make a difference to girls in the local community, have a break from your everyday routine and a chance to learn new skills.
The weather was fine and kind for yesterday’s Crosspool Forum Community Christmas tree recycling event outside Direct Travel.

The Forum Volunteer Marshalls efficiently helped ensure that everything ran smoothly and thanked everyone for their cooperation with the request to wear a Face Covering, observe Social Distancing, waiting patiently in the one-way queue to Drop off a Christmas Tree and for not hanging around or gathering Socially. Everyone’s support and willingness to help everybody keep safe during the tree recycling was really appreciated.
Every recycled Christmas tree helped protect the environment, providing chippings to be used locally as Mulch in the flower beds and woodland areas of Lydgate green.
Social Distance Queuing
The Crosspool Forum was extremely grateful for everyone’s understanding of the strict safety guidelines which had been taken to keep safe our Community Volunteers and attendees during these unprecedented times and everyone  for getting rid of their Christmas tree in the most environmentally-friendly way.
Snow and sleet showers are forecast tonight and throughout tomorrow across parts of Sheffield, particularly on higher ground (Crosspool).

A few volunteers are required to grit the footpaths around St. Columba’s Church to aid access for the elderly who will be attending to receive their Covid vaccination.

Having now been officially advised that trips for waste management and Community work/volunteering are permitted during the current lock down, in the interest of protecting the environment, the Crosspool Forum  has taken the decision to go ahead with the Christmas Tree Recycling this Sunday, 10th January 2021 –(10am to 11.30am).
To ensure that everything runs smoothly and STRICT SAFETY GUIDELINES are observed, the following steps will be taken to help keep everyone safe during the tree recycling.
Everyone will be required to:-
Observe Social Distancing –
Wear a Face Covering –
Follow the Guidance of the Forum Volunteer Marshals, who will be on hand all morning to supervise socially distanced one-way queuing during a drop and go approach.
(NO Hanging around or Gathering Socially).
Thank you for your interest in protecting the environment by recycling your Christmas tree and for your understanding that these steps have had to be taken to help keep our Volunteers and attendees safe during these unprecedented times.

Given how challenging 2020 has been for us all, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Crosspool Forum felt it especially important to give a big thank you for the continued help and support of the community over the past year.
With the start of a New Year comes the time for us to reflect on the year just past and to the promise of new challenges and opportunities in the year to come.
