As part of the Sheffield Tree Partnership a draft Working Strategy has been developed for the city’s street trees. This sets out a commitment to explain the reasons behind proposals to remove and replace street trees, and provides an opportunity for people to have their say on these proposals, through an open and transparent process.
Current open consultations for street trees in Sheffield can be found here.
It’s the aim of the Sheffield City Council to retain street trees, where possible, by using a flexible combination of highway engineering solutions, enhanced monitoring and maintenance and making decisions on the removal and replacement of trees on a case-by-case basis.
This, along with appropriate tree species selection, should enable street trees to be safely retained for longer while still delivering the planned improvements to the city’s highway network as part of the Streets Ahead contract.

This month’s Neighbourhood Watch newsletter (Attached), created by Network (the umbrella organisation for Neighbourhood Watch across England and Wales) for all Neighbourhood Watch supporters – from households to volunteers, takes a look at cyber-based scams, including phishing emails and sextortion.
Included is a reminder of their Community Grants Programme which is ending soon and a look at Census 2021 which is coming to all households on the 21st March. They also hear from a Coordinator in Derbyshire who began his scheme in April 2019 and now has 71% of his village signed up as members!
With all of the above and much more, they hope you enjoy reading the newsletter and would love to hear from you on what you would like to read more of. Please send your suggestions to deborah.waller@ourwatch.org.uk.
Have you ever considered volunteering as an Independent Appeal Panel Member for school admissions?

Bob Townrow is in the process of organising a virtual concert on Zoom at 7.30pm, Thursday March 11th. Although the concert is free, Stephen Hill Methodist and St Columba’s Church will be happy to receive donations towards their charities. Please contact Bob for details of how to contribute.
Dependent on the number of people coming forward to perform, it is anticipated that the concert will, with a short interval, last for around an hour and a half.
If you have songs to sing, music to play, poems to recite, or short pieces of writing you would like to read; a dance routine, conjuring or anything visual that would work on Zoom, please get in touch with Bob for the link.
Is there anyone you know that may be hiding their light under a bushel, and too shy or modest to come forward who you would like to see take part in the concert, if so please let Bob have their details. (Your name will not be mentioned)
If you would like to be part of the audience watching the concert, please let Bob know and he will send you the link – for what is a concert without an audience, or performers for that matter,

The census is coming. By taking part, you can help to inform decisions on services that shape your community, such as schools, doctors’ surgeries and bike lanes.
It’s important you fill in your census questionnaire because the information you share affects the life of every single person living in England and Wales.
Because these things matter to us all, everyone needs to complete the census. Do not worry, your information is protected by law. That means government officials dealing with payments or services you receive cannot see it.
Census Day is Sunday 21 March. You can fill yours in online as soon as you get your access code in the post. If your household circumstances change on Census Day, you can let The Office for National Statistics (ONS) know.
If you need help, you can visit www.census.gov.uk where there’s a wide range of support services available.
