Have Your Say on Street Tree Decisions

As part of the new approach to managing street trees across the city, further consultations on individual trees are now live on the Sheffield council’s Citizen Space Consultation Hub.

Residents are being encouraged to take part in consultations on individual trees; an approach outlined within the Sheffield Street Partnership Tree Strategy. 

The Sheffield City Council want to ensure that our street trees are looked after as valuable assets for the city. As part of this approach to management, they are focused on the need for transparency in decision making and community consultation in the process. This allows local people the opportunity to understand and, if necessary, challenge a tree management decision through a clear and open process.

New 5G Telecoms Mast for Crosspool

New 20m high 5G telecoms mast and multifarious cabinets to be sited in Crosspool!

The Sheffield City Council has received a planning application that you may want to comment on, the deadline for this is 30th July 2021.

The planning application, from  CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd, is for a 20m high 5G telecoms mast with a wraparound cabinet at the base, 3 additional cabinets and associated ancillary works on  land adjoining, 1 Stephen Hill Sheffield S105NT. (Application to determine if approval required for siting and appearance)

There is still time to join “Beat the Street” a fun free initiative that will see Sheffield transformed into a giant game!

See how far you can walk, cycle, run, scoot and roll. There are great challenges to enjoy and prizes up for grabs.

New volunteers needed! Could this be you?

St Columba’s and Stephen Hill Church, Crosspool, have amazing volunteers that make everything possible, but they could always do with more help at their groups!!

They currently need new volunteers for their Weekly Bumps, Barins and Babies Group and their monthly Family Groups.

2021 Crosspool Scarecrow Competition Winners

Scarecrows entered for the 2021 community scarecrow competition celebrating the beginning of a ‘New Chapter’ were, as one would have expected, of a very high standard, making it challenging for the judges to choose the winners.

After careful consideration scrutinising all the scarecrows entered, Glyn at “Nest Café” & Rob at “Pet Supplies” chose the following winner and runners-up.

First Prize winner – “Story Time” Manchester Road, receives a certificate and a £25 voucher kindly donated by Green Cross Chemist, Crosspool.

First runner-up – “A New Dawn Breaks” Ringstead Crescent, receives a certificate and a voucher for two fish & chip dinners kindly donated by the Crosspool Fish Bar, Crosspool.

2021 Crosspool Festival Photography Competition Winners

People were invited to submit a photo on the theme ‘A Year in Crosspool’

The results of our annual festival photography competition have been announced!
The polls received nearly 146 votes. The results are below.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic restrictions on mass gathering, being extended to the 19th July 2021, this Saturdays hugely popular Crosspool Summer Fayre has had to be cancelled for the second year running, As a result the prizes for this year’s Photo Competition and Scarecrow Competition will now be presented to the competition winners at Hudson’s Kitchen on Sandygate Road, this  Saturday 3 July at  12:30pm.

Thank you to the Creative Crosspool residents who, over the past months have been knitting and crocheting a huge variety of delightful items for everyone to enjoy as part of this years scaled down Crosspool Festival .

All the yarn bombing creations currently displayed in the Crosspool precinct were designed and installed by members of our local community.

Look very closely at all the displays for hidden characters such as Robin Hood & his Merry Men and a woolly version of Crossy the Owl.

Crosspool Open Gardens

Tomorrow, Saturday, 26 June, a number of Crosspool Gardens will be open for people to enjoy. Follow the directions on the brochure’s map to visit the gardens that are open.

 Crosspool Open Gardens is a chance for you to explore some of the wonderful gardens in our community, get to know your neighbours over a cuppa and cake and raise some money for charity.

Get a Ticket brochure from the Nest Café or Hudson’s Kitchen or just turn up and purchase a brochure from any open garden:  lookout for the posters displayed outside gardens that are open.

Children get in free and all proceeds go to charity.
